Buddies for Life Spring Edition

Our team of ladies is very passionate about creating awareness around Breast Cancer, which is the reason we work with the fabulous team at Bosom Buddies and Buddies for life.

The cover for the Spring edition of Buddies for Life Magazine, was a collaboration between several different teams, all passionate about the same cause, which resulted in an amazing & inspirational shoot.

The concept of using a henna tattoo came from Sandra, the fabulous editor, and she asked the team at My Skin Bar & Brow Center to do the beautiful flower crown on Lindiwe's head. We also had the most gorgeous rose gold jewellery supplied by the awesome ladies at Clearwater Bellagio Jewellers, which just added the perfect amount of style and finished off Lindiwe's cover-shoot look.

The brave young Lindiwe sat for about an hour while the henna was being done and we got to know her a bit better. Her family has a history of Breast Cancer, and even though she knew how important it was to do self exams and to see a doctor, if she suspected something. When she found a lump, she decided to wait and see if it went away. 

 When she could no longer ignore the problem, she had it checked, only to find out she had stage 3 Breast Cancer.

Her message to all is, knowledge is power. "One thing I learned in my journey is that all people need to listen to their bodies and ensure they see their doctor when they feel something isn't right - we are in control of our own health".

This amazing mom of two has been through eight rounds of chemo, and recently had a mastectomy, but she is determined not to go down with out a fight!
