We all know how important it is to have a regular cleansing routine for your skin. For example, washing your make-up off before going to bed allows your skin to breathe. But did you know it is also very important to clean your make-up brushes? Like your skin, make-up brushes also get clogged up. Once your brush is like this, it is not good for your skin nor is it good for the brush. Why is cleaning your make-up brushes so important?
How often should you clean your brushes?
Keep an eye out for future blog posts on the best make-up brush cleaning products and how to clean your brushes correctly. Look and feel fabulous!

The femme fatale ladies XXX 21/10/2014 0 Comments what is bridal boudoir?Boudoir photography is a sexy trend which is becoming increasingly popular among ladies of all ages. In addition, when a boudoir shoot is done tastefully with the right photographer, it is beautiful, sensual and elegant. We are photographing more and more brides, this is probably because, this sensual photo-shoot makes the perfect, special and intimate gift for their groom. This type of photo-shoot is called a bridal boudoir. How does bridal boudoir differ from a normal boudoir shoot? There isn't a huge difference, as we always ask our ladies to bring along a selection of lingerie and outfits to their photo-shoot. However, we encourage our brides to bring their wedding elements with, such as their bridal jewellery, garter, white or bridal lingerie, wedding shoes, flowers and of course their veil. Can I still do my shoot if I do not have all my bridal elements yet? Of course! The femme fatale studio is well equipped with bridal props if you do not have everything. We have the most gorgeous and beautiful cathedral length veil that was custom made for us by our dear friend and recommended wedding dress & accessory supplier By Ligita. We also have a selection of jewellery, bridal corsets, garters, etc. When should I do my bridal boudoir photo-shoot? We recommend you do your photo-shoot at least 6 weeks before your wedding. That gives us enough time to edit the images beautifully and have your gorgeous boudoir album printed and delivered to you before your wedding day. What does bridal boudoir look like? We just love doing bridal boudoir, as it is soft, sensual and really beautiful. One of our favourite things to do is implied nude. This is where we use your or our veil strategically to cover all the important places, but leave a lot to the imagination. Below is a few images from Miss Kamzisto's bridal boudoir photo-shoot. These will give you an idea of what to expect. A big thank you to Monique for the beautiful make-up, and Miss Kamzisto for allowing us to use her gorgeous images and for being such an amazing lady to work with! Love the femme fatale ladies XXX As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it's probably only fitting that we discuss breast self-examination. Having said that, we should really be aware of our breasts and taking care of them all year round. Our team has been working with Bosom Buddies, a South African based cancer support group run by survivors, for 2 years now, as well as with Buddies for Life, the magazine publication specifically for breast cancer patients, survivors and the supporters around them.
Breast Cancer affects more women than we are probably aware of, and it doesn't discriminate, so any woman of any age, race or creed can be affected. Below are a few facts about Breast Cancer in South Africa:
Early detection saves lives, so here is a few things to do and to watch out for: Stand in front of a mirror, firstly with your hands on your hips and secondly with raised arms and look at your breasts checking for the following:
The next test is also done in two stages and maybe be easiest when the skin is wet. So while you are in the bath or shower.
It is recommended that you check your breasts at least once a month, and generally when you are menstruating. Your gynaecologist should also do a breast exam during your yearly check-up and if you are concerned please chat to them about doing a mammogram. Should you notice any abnormality that were described above, or feel any lump of any kind, please see your Doctor as soon as possible and get this checked. Love

The femme fatale ladies XXX Foundation is generally the first makeup product we apply, and acts as a base for all of the other products we use to create the perfect look. It is important that you use the correct tools, and the finger tips are definitely the wrong way to apply foundation. Using our finger tips can introduce bacteria on to our skin and gives a streaky uneven finish. To help our lovely femme fatale ladies out with which tool is best, we decided to put some information together about the best foundation applying tools.
The flat foundation brush is usually made of synthetic fibres and has a slightly rounded, flat tip. This is best used in a circular motion, starting with sculpting from the cheeks and moving up to the hairline. This brush glides beautifully over your skin allowing you to blend liquid foundation easily, creating a flawless look.

The femme fatale ladies XXX 23/9/2014 0 Comments beautiful raven roseRaven Rose is an elegant and incredibly beautiful lady, who joined both Shelley and Chantal at the White Room studio for a boudoir fun day. Unfortunately, we didn't get much time to photograph and work with her, as the other photographers didn't want to stop photographing her....can you blame them?
Raven Rose's stunning make-up was done by Monique, one of our talented in-house Hair and Make-up Artists. Monique created a fairy tale look and feel for this fabulous lady, which matched perfectly with the soft and sensual setting. The set was enhanced by the vintage corset and mirror (supplied by us at femme fatale), while the make-up gave a romantic and magical feel to the shoot...and Raven Rose looked just like the beauty from the fairy tale - Snow White. Here is a selection of the gorgeous and glamorous images from Raven Rose's shoot...A thank you must go to the sexy Raven Rose for allowing us to share her beautiful images. We look forward to working with her again! Love Shelley and Chantal XXX Sticking with our spring time theme, here is another inspiration board for your boudoir shoot. The femme fatale ladies XXX When it comes to applying Make-up, sometimes we forget that the tools we use are probably the most important assets in our Make-up bag. Choosing the correct make-up brushes are an investment as they do have a relatively long life span, if cared for properly. Good quality brushes can help you achieve great flawless make-up with very little effort. So how do you choose the right brushes? Well most say that the brand names, like MAC are the best, but many of the smaller brand names, or even the ones you can purchase at pharmacies like Dis-Chem and Clicks or a make-up store, are just as good and are a bit more affordable. The most important things to think about when choosing make-up brushes is:
Remember there are different sizes and shapes for a reason, each one has their own function. Therefore, one make-up brush is not sufficient for every application. Brushes are made with different types of hair (bristles), you get natural hair, real hair, fake hair (plastic) or synthetic. The real or natural hair brushes, tend to be a bit more expensive but they are awesome for dry make-up, like powder and blush. Synthetic brushes on the other hand are great for wet make-up, like foundation, as they do not stick or clog up. Brushes made with the correct materials and that are good quality will not lose bristles, and will ensure a beautiful finish as they do not stick or snag on your skin. If you are unsure, or need advice on which brushes to buy, have a chat to one of our fabulous Make-up Artists, Monique or Shandre. They are both very skilled at make-up application and do offer courses on how to apply make-up. They often advise our ladies on the best products to purchase for their skin type and colouring. A big thank you to Monique and Shandre, who are always fantastic with the most amazing make-up and hair styling they do for our ladies. They also assist us with the information for the make-up blog's. We did find a fabulous website which also has some great hints and tips for make-up application: www.bestmakeupbrushesguide.org, its definitely worth a visit.
